Walking, walking, and more walking...
I don't normally blog about myself, but since this is for a very important cause... I think it's ok. :) This weekend I did lots of walking to prep for my Breast Cancer 3-Day that's coming up in about 9 weeks.
On Saturday, I went on a 12-mile training walk and it was a great walk and I was pretty darn proud of myself! My sweetpea Miles did the first 6 miles with me in the BoB - he's such a great walking buddy. We only had to stop a few times - once because he wanted to walk and another time because he had to go to the bathroom. I packed lots of snacks and books and he was content and happy and it was nice to have his company. We met up with Derek and Oliver at the Saratoga Farmer's Market and got some yummy food and then Derek drove the boys home for nap time and I walked back the 6 miles by myself. I felt great until I stopped to get a Gatorade at mile 11 and after that, my legs were heavy and tired, but I knew I only had 1 mile to go. I reminded myself why I was doing this and pushed on.
I went on a 6-mile walk on Sunday with Lara and the boys in the double BoB and my legs were super tired and sore, but, again I reminded myself that this journey is an important one -- the fight against breast cancer.
On the fundraising front, I also have to say that I am kicking butt! Thanks to the incredible support that I have received from my family, friends, and co-workers, I have raised $4,294.99!!! Only approx $700 to go til I reach my goal of $5,000! Pretty amazing!!!
