Colorado fun... cousins galore!

Note from the editor: This blog post is a bit overdue, but an un-named person sent me the pics late. ;) wink!

At the end of March, we visited all of our family and friends in Colorado. The day before we flew in for the weekend, Denver was hit with a huge blizzard and I was quickly reminded of why I don't miss the crazy Colorado weather. Despite the snow, we arrived safe and sound and had a really short but sweet weekend with family (including my mom!) and several of the great friends I grew up with. Miles and Oliver had such a great time playing with all of their cousins and it made me sad that we all don't live closer. (Note: they have 6 cousins on the Ramstetter side and 1 cousin on the Lu side... time to catch up Lisa and Kevin!!!)

Miles took a very strong liking to his cousin Caley, which was very sweet. And Camryn and Oliver were like two peas in a pod. :) Camryn is so grown up now, she was such a help keeping an eye on Oliver while Derek and I had some fun with the grown ups.

Here is a great pic of all of the cousins in our family. The only was missing was my sweet nephew, Alex, who was up in Cheyenne, Wyoming for college.

Starting in the front : Oliver (1.5 years old) being held by Camryn (9); 2nd row, left to right: Caley (7) and Gabby (4); Last row on top, left to right: Kaydee (7), Courtney (5), and Miles (3)

And one more, just for funsies... poor Miles wasn't a happy camper!

Dinner in a basket

The other night I made Miles an "M" sandwich for dinner using a "M" shaped cookie cutter that I bought and he was super excited about it. In typical Miles fashion, he didn't eat at the table (he doesn't like to sit still for very long). He decided to have dinner in a basket... the pictures below speak for themselves! It was pretty darn funny - he ate the entire sandwich in the basket (our laundry basket) - happy as can be! I guess I might have to serve him dinner in a basket every night!

"Miles, where are you?"

"I am having dinner in a basket, mom."

"Is there a problem?"

"Dinner in a basket rocks!"

Boh Boh and Mama

Our little man Oliver has two obsessions right now:
(1) His "Boh Boh" (aka pacifier) and
(2) His Mama (aka Derek)

Yes, my little Oliver is in love with his Boh boh and his daddy who he calls mama. It's rather hilarious, if I do say so myself.

When he gets in the car, the first thing he says is "Boh Boh" and if we don't have a pacifier in the car, it's not a pretty car ride. It's not going to be fun when it's time to cut him off from the pacifer which is going to be sometime soon. He's so in love with the darn thing and it breaks my heart that we will need to take it away. But, now that he's starting to talk, it's pretty much time. Today, when we picked him up from school, he said it the minute we walked inside the gate to the school. He just loves it.

Then there is his love affair with his daddy, who he calls mama... LOL. It's pretty crazy how in love he is - Derek cannot even go to the bathroom without Oliver getting hysterical. It's hard at times for me since he's my baby too, but I try not to take it personally. It's very sweet that he's so in love with his daddy and I know Derek loves it too. Miles is SUCH a momma's boy that is works out nicely that Oliver is a totally daddy's boy.

Happy Easter

We had a very nice Easter yesterday - spoiled by beautiful weather, good friends, family, and good food (if I do say so myself).

We hosted an Easter egg hunt at our house, followed by a brunch of corn, bacon and egg quiche, a green salad, fruit salad, and french toast casserole. Auntie Lisa (Goo Goo) came over and it's always so nice to have her around. Paris and Ava came down from San Francisco and Miles just loves his sweet friend Ava. (Paris is one of Derek's closest friends from high school, so it's super cute that Miles and Ava are close friends too). And, our neighbors, the Couson's (Allan, Katty, Mateo, and Michael), also joined us.

The kids had a great time finding eggs in the backyard... well, they loved sitting on the grass and eating sugar - of course! Then they had a "picnic" on the grass with hot dogs and string cheese and then they watched a bunch of Curious George on TV (the best cure to a sugar high). All in all, it was a fun Easter. And, our super egg finder Oliver found 2 more un-found plastic eggs yesterday!

Styrofoam fun

A couple of weeks ago, Derek put together a new TV stand for his mom. Miles quickly realized that the big box in the dining room was full of styrofoam and quickly pulled it into the kitchen to show his little brother how to really have some fun!

The pictures say it all. Our kitchen was a TOTAL mess and, truth be told, I got a little annoyed when Miles wanted nothing to do with the clean up process. But, it was harmless and so much fun (for them). Good times. I can only imagine what they will come up with next.
